Treat Cavities as Soon as They're Discovered
What a painful lesson! Back when I was a student, I ignored a cavity in my tooth. At the time, I didn’t think much of it, but eventually, the pain became unbearable. Recently, I couldn’t take it anymore and went to Vickong Dental Clinic in Gongbei for a checkup. They took a CT scan and found that my back tooth had decayed all the way to the pulp—meaning I needed a root canal treatment (RCT) before getting a filling.
My RCT was handled by Dr. Leung Chi Ying, who was not only skilled but also made me feel at ease with her fluent Cantonese. I’d heard she was particularly good at RCTs, and she lived up to her reputation.
The treatment took three sessions. After the first one, the pain subsided, though I still couldn’t chew hard foods. Once the RCT was done, I opted for a resin filling (since glass ionomer isn’t as durable). At Vickong, the resin filling was surprisingly affordable—just 280 RMB per tooth for the American 3M Z250 material.
After everything was finished, Dr. Leung reminded me to brush twice daily. She warned that neglecting oral care could lead to new cavities, even in filled teeth. From now on, I’ll follow her advice strictly—no more ignoring dental health!
Moral of the story? If you spot a cavity, get it treated immediately! Clinics like Vickong even offer free checkups, so there’s no excuse. Early treatment means simple cleaning + filling—cheap and quick. Don’t wait like I did, enduring months of pain and ending up with a costly root canal
