Zhuhai Tooth Extraction Diary
Finally solved the wisdom tooth trouble that had bothered me for ages! I also spent a day exploring Zhuhai, and I’m so excited to share my experience with you!
The Trouble with Wisdom Teeth
Ever since my wisdom tooth grew in, my eating habits turned miserable. Food would always get stuck, and it would often inflame and swell. The doctor said if I didn’t remove it, it would soon affect other teeth. After much hesitation, I finally decided to get it extracted.
Choosing a hospital was no easy task! I checked many dental clinics in Macau—either the prices were exorbitant, or the waiting lists were endless. One day, I saw an ad for Vickong Dental on TVB, which piqued my interest. Their official website had detailed info, showing clean and professional facilities. On Facebook, there were tons of positive reviews from real patients. Compared to Macau’s prices, Vickong was more than 50% cheaper, with great reviews and service. The cost-performance ratio was unbeatable, so I decided to try Zhuhai!
First Experience with Mainland Dentistry
I was nervous about seeing a doctor on the mainland for the first time, but crossing the Gongbei Port was a breeze—just seconds via the self-service channel! At Vickong Dental, the nurse greeted me in fluent Cantonese, instantly putting me at ease. The doctor took an X-ray and found my wisdom tooth was horizontally impacted, dangerously close to a nerve. But the doctor was highly experienced, explaining the surgery plan in detail, which reassured me. Since it was a lower impacted tooth, the cost was slightly higher—800 RMB for the extraction. Still, compared to Macau’s clinics, it was a steal! Plus, my extraction was done by Director Chen, a former chief of stomatology at a top-tier hospital. His skills and experience were impeccable, so I had full confidence.
When getting anesthesia, I feared it would hurt, but it felt like a mosquito bite—totally bearable! The procedure took only 10–15 minutes. I literally lay down and was done before I knew it. After the extraction, I stayed for 30 minutes of observation. The nurse carefully taught me post-op care, gave me an ice pack and medication, and reminded me of countless precautions. The service was exceptional!
Exploring Zhuhai After the Extraction
With the hemostatic cotton in place and slight swelling on one side of my face, I couldn’t resist exploring! First stop: Zhuhai’s famous Lover’s Road. The sea breeze and endless ocean were incredibly soothing. Walking along, I saw the Statue of the Zhuhai Fisher Girl—majestic and beautiful, with crowds lining up to take photos. I snapped many pics to remember the day!
Tips for Macau Residents
If you need dental care in Macau, consider crossing to Zhuhai! I highly recommend planning a full-day trip: cross the border in the morning for your appointment, spend the afternoon visiting attractions, watch the sunset at Lover’s Road in the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner, then head back to Macau. It’s a fulfilling and happy way to spend the day!
